I love a lot of Tessa Baileys books, but this one just did not impress me. The tropes were over used and expected in an unenthusiastic way.

I didn't hate this. I don't love cops as main characters, but I knew that's what I was going to get and I do still love Tessa Bailey, so I got over it. I think the MMC actually ends up being pretty sweet and I think his crimes were petty. Like a lot of the motives for third-act breakups in Bailey's book, I think in real life, it would just be something a couple would laugh about once they've admitted their true feelings.
