I enjoyed Adam Kay’s first book ‘this is going to hurt’ a lot more than I was expecting, so I was looking forward to reading this. Plus I appreciated the dedication in this book which explained that he changed the names of his colleagues to MCU characters.
On one side I thought the anecdotes about his time as a medical student were interesting, they were both shocking and very revealing of the medical industry and at times they were funny in places too.
But there wasn’t enough of the medical content for me, unlike in book one, this is more about Adam’s life outside of being a doctor. Which I am sure many would find very interesting, as he speaks very honestly about parental pressure, coming out as a gay man, and the mental health struggles he suffered after leaving medicine. However this isn’t really my kind of book, and I found some of the anecdotes a little too descriptive at times too.
