OH. MY. GOODNESS!! I was absolutely blown away by this book. From the very first page, I found the concept wildly interesting and unique, unlike anything else I've read. The writing is nuanced and gives hints into character development and the plot is intellectual without being overly complex or confusing. The details really make the concept seem plausible and the characters are all very colorful, well developed, and unique. I don't usually love superhero books and tend to be on the more magic side of fantasy, and while this was sometimes a little dark for my tastes, it had my heart pounding like a thriller, and there were moments when I couldn't breathe, was on the edge of my seat, and absolutely could not put it down. I read this book in barely more than a day, and I think it's safe to say I might have a new favorite author. This book totally exceeded my expectations and was everything I shouldn't like, and somehow ended up being absolutely everything I adore! Even if this isn't your usual go to genre, this is definitely worth a read.

A twisting world that isn't what it seams. I chose to read this book to fulfill a reading challenge where I need to read a book about a villain or anti hero. This book fit that slot perfectly. I found myself thrown into a world where people with special abilities are being hunted because they are considered an abomination. The twist is that the person hunting them, is also someone with abilities... Surprise... It is a battle of life and death, and it is epic.

I loved the characters. They each had their own back stories and personalities. The world was familiar and it was easy to picture these characters in it.

I'm ready to read the next book in this series and find out what happens next.

This book felt super original and very much outside of my current reach of book-reading so I appreciated that, but it went by really fast. I’m a fast reader anyway but this was *really* fast and it just felt inconsequential by the time that I finished. I liked all of their EO abilities and how it did feel very realistic outside of their powers but there was one character alive in the end that I wished would have died, and then the world would feel right. I also really wanted to know more about Mitch. Maybe book #2? It didn’t speak to me but I liked the premise.

I couldn't finish it, I don't know why. Maybe I'll come back to it some day, but I don't know when that will be.
