This was one of the worst books I have ever read. It is POINTLESS point blank period. Neither plots are flushed out, the characters are forgettable and that little ending scene? POINTLESS you have a character r*ped, tell you how much he loves his r*pist and then it’s all magically fixed like a chapter later? What was the point!!! It felt like shock jock radio, just poorly put together thoughts and ‘OO this will get them talking

When I read [b:Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke|57876868|Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke|Eric LaRocca|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1634173415l/57876868._SY75_.jpg|90668643][b:Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke|57876868|Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke|Eric LaRocca|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1634173415l/57876868._SY75_.jpg|90668643], I thought that maybe I would like Eric LaRocca's work more if it was in the long form. This was not the case. There where two big things I didn't like:

1. Obvious naming. Obviously, the magician named Crowley isn't a great dude. The first time we meet him he blows up people's heads. When he said 'hey, we gotta do a month long ritual', I thought he would wander off in the middle of it.

2. What do we get out of this? There are a lot of interesting little things and potential themes, but it falls short. The story gets wrapped up with a Deus Ex Machina. Nothing matters.
challenging dark sad medium-paced

There is a hate crime halfway through this that is incredibly graphic & serves no purpose to the plot.

What a creative story, just like all of Eric LaRocca's other works I've read. I still like his short stories more, but this was a great story nonetheless!
