A gripping social justice comic and origin story about Antonio Valor a.k.a. Brotherman and his family. This volume has a tragic cliffhanger, but Valor has my full attention! There definitely a call for more comics (especially comics with an all-POC cast) in which the hero is an ordinary citizen of ordinary means struggling to make a difference in a scary climate. There is some clunky exposition (Leonard Valor's buddy Brick telling Leonard about his gangster days), but it's also a classic origin story, so lots of backstory is expected.
