This book follows Cara, a 29 year old with an interesting job, who absolutely cannot find a man suitable enough to date. After striking out and getting stood up, Cara meets Millsy at a bar. Despite being complete opposites, the two strike up a quick friendship, agreeing to making a plus one pact. Each will attend the functions of the other, as friends. The pact works, but the closer Cara and Millsy become, the more they begin to wonder if they really are just friends.

This book was sweet! Well-written and very funny. It had so many great lines and quotes I wanted to save and come back to. I loved Cara's character although I did find her slightly immature for her age, especially at the end. I think the book was quite predictable, and came together at the end extremely quickly and somewhat unexpectedly- I did think there was going to be more twists. However, it was still a very sweet, fun and light story! I loved all the adventures the two characters got up to and how they handled them, lots of laughs! I enjoyed it. Thanks to NetGalley for the free preview in exchange for an honest review.

I loved everything about this!! The Plus One Pact is a quirky, hilarious, endearing rom-com with so much entertainment, it's like going to an amusement park! Recovering from her last breakup with a domineering boyfriend, Cara is tired of trying her hand at dating apps and dates which go from bad to worse. When she gets stood up, she happens to meet Joe "Millsy," and they form a bit of an unlikely friendship. A great friends-to-lovers story, this had me racing through the story to see what would happen next and laughing-out-loud with all the hysterical antics and witty banter between these two friends. This was my first read from Portia MacIntosh, and it will definitely not be my last! You should definitely check this one out for a hilarious, feel-good rom-com that will leave you smiling and stay with you long after you finish!!

The ending was brilliant and matched the story perfectly. The book overall was a good book, it was cute and a good read. It had potential to be better for me. I love the sad scenes when a character realizes their love for each other. This book kinda felt just idk less dramatic. They just took some time apart then talked about it. I guess that's idk realistic. I enjoyed every minute of it. I've been having serious reading block and this book took me out of my funk. It was great. It could be better. Some changes could be made. But overall, it was quite good for a normal undramatic sweet story.

This story was so cute in parts and really had the potential to be great. I just feel like it was a little too long and repetitive to get to the outcome, it took a long time for Cara to realize her self worth and for her to realize that Millsy really was into her, and then the payoff at the end was so brief. It was almost abrupt how quickly it ended. To me, the ending is a huge part of the overall story. Even though there was a HEA, it still felt lacking. Therefore, I'm giving this one 3 stars.

Quick Summary: A feel good friends to lovers romance

My Review: The Plus One Pact by Portia MacIntosh was too funny for words. This charming BBC-esque like love story was a simple, fast-paced read. From the meet-cute to the couple's final revelation of true feelings, it was simply wonderful.

My Final Say: I strongly recommend this book. Readers who enjoy British accents, funny hi-jinks, family drama, and HEAs will adore this story.
