This book was much better than Gunslinger. But Stephen King always takes forever to get to the point. 463 pages to open three doors and get three companions is a lot. Book could be shorter and be just as good.

Not saying the book is bad I actually enjoyed it quite a bit, but it's the reason it sits at 3.75 and not a full 4 star.

Eddie is an amazing character, I was pretty annoyed with Odetta and Detta. But at the very end she is now Susannah so we will see how that plays out in book three. Exactly what I wanted to happen happened with Jack Mort.

I enjoyed the concept of the doors and going into a new world through Roland's perspective. I'm curious how Roland gets on without his shooting fingers on his right hand. I half expected him to take over Jacks body and bring it into his world.

All in all good book, but a flat ending that sets up book three
