There were too many characters, which became confusing to me and it just didn’t pique my interest!

Provocative in its form and content, an enjoyable read that challenges the world we know, told through three protagonists that grow and adapt to the changing environment. The characters learn how to survive in their own ways, contending with their own morality as they mature. I really liked how the characters' stories and lives intertwine, the distance between them ebbing and flowing. A piece of modern art.

Ellen inspires me to be more radical, to live collective values. Jackie reminds me of the giddiness of the early internet, niche communities forming online. Giselle makes me want to live fearlessly, to follow through on the biggest dreams, just because. I love these characters and their connection to each other through time, as the world becomes the militarized surveillance state that we see things tipping to already.

The characters in this novel break free from family and society expectations to forge their own paths. Their life stories ask what does it mean to live according to one’s own values/ desires within a Capitalist system?
