Guilting family and characters as paper thin as the products they’re selling made this a slog

4/5 Stars.
My first read/listen by Jae, narrated by Abby Craden , anything narrates by Abby zero in on and this one was no different.
Paper Love follows Suzanna, a Lesbian, Ice Queen-ish, niece of the owner of Paler Love and Anja, a Bisexual star employee of Paper Love.
Suzanne Wolff, send to Freiburg by her mother to save her uncles stationary business form going bankrupt. She meets Anja, her uncles Star employee and fireworks fly.
What I Liked: The characters. The setting. The ‘set up’ by Suzanne’s uncle. Paper Fair (I want to go to one)
What I didn’t like: I didn’t not like this book, but I just can’t put my finger on what I ‘didn’t’ like about it.
I did want to love this more than I did but unfortunately this one just wasn’t one for me. Was this book good? Hell yeah, but it just didn’t enjoy it as I would have liked.

I'm not gonna say anything interesting 'cause people already did a great job reviewing this book, so I just wanted to add that I liked it very much, enemies-to-lovers and the plus plus plus of my beloved Stationery world! Pens and romance? Recipe for success! I even saved the pen's names to buy if one day I become loaded because a teacher's salary ain't buying none. And the city where it all takes place sounded so quaint and made me want to visit Germany.

When Susanne Wolff quit her job, her mom had already lined up a project for her – save her uncle's stationery store Paper Love in Freiburg. Accustomed to city life, Susanne had no intension of staying beyond the arranged three months. But that was before she started working with Paper Love's only full-time employee and stationery aficionado Anja Lamm.
Maybe my hopes had been too high for this book. I had looked forward to getting a glimpse of Freiburg through Jae's eyes, thinking that since she lives there, this book would be special. Also, I love going to stationery stores, so imagine my excitement when I dove into this romance novel set in a German stationery store.
I was let down by the lack of depth and plot so prevalent in other Jae's books. Paper Love was still a very cute story with more than one romantic couple but not much more. There were a few fun things in the book, including the Freiburg Bächle legend that a person who accidentally steps into the Bächle would end up marrying a local, that the surnames of Susanne and Anja were basically wolf and lamb in German, and cameos of Jenna Blake's music.
Though I love Jae's books, Paper Love was not for me. Nonetheless, it was still a good read.
