Tears of the Moon

Nora Roberts

4.0 AVERAGE

A ver...

A ver...

Umm... ¡a ver si no te va a querer tanto!

Uff, yo ya paso de verdad.
El tercero no lo pienso leer.

Roberts’ continuity in the story allows the reader to easily slip right back into the rhythm and rhyme of Ardmore and the Gallagher family. The same cast of main characters return, and though the second novel focuses on the second brother, Shawn, and the tenacious Brenna, the familiarity of the setting, characters, and plot make for a smooth transition from the first book. Music, lyrics, and food are underlying themes in this part of the trilogy and offer a different vehicle of storytelling and legend, themes from Aidan and Jude’s tale.

Though somewhat repetitive in the overall romantic plot, Roberts does give Shawn and Brenna a unique journey that is full of a drama and mischief all their own. The Faerie Prince, however, is somewhat flat at this point. His dialogue, mannerisms, and place in the story do not offer anything new. Roberts has characters that have grown and lived with this local legend, but does not entice the reader with a new detail or understanding of the Faerie Prince and his love.

I'm giving this book a full 5-star rating. Tears of the Moon is a beautiful story about a boy and a girl who come to realize that true love can be found in the most simple places with the most familiar people. Shawn and Brenna will make the reader believe that even the most seemingly opposite personalities can come together in harmony. In her second installment in the Gallaghers of Ardmore trilogy, Nora Roberts once again weaves legend through the past and present in a lyrical way that inspires hope and faith in the future. Another quick and engaging read in Roberts’ classic style, Tears of the Moon will have you reaching for the third and final book of the trilogy to see how it all ends.

Read in 2006

I liked this book but I’m not so sure I loved it.

I went into this book thinking I’d definitely love it more than the first one cause I was so fond of Shawn in the first one but it was just okay. I kind of had the impression that Brenna loved Shawn from the go but apparently I was mistaken. I did like seeing things from Shawn’s perspective because everyone just sort of underestimates him in a way. I also think the way they move fast with their relationships in this series works well for them because of the whole Celtic folklore thing.

I didn’t like how Brenna always mentioned his faults to almost anyone when he hardly did the same when it came to her. I think they work well together though. Her will to strive for more would definitely be good for him once they learn to respect boundaries between themselves. I’ll probably be giving the third book a chance just cause I’m looking forward to seeing Darcy exploring outside this small town.

XDDDDD

For me, this book was just as good as [b:Jewels of the Sun|59810|Jewels of the Sun (Gallaghers of Ardmore, #1)|Nora Roberts|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1388194052s/59810.jpg|759792], and I loved how Shawn and Brenna were truly two halves of a whole! I loved watching their relationship take that turn from friends to lovers and how the rest of the village reacted to them and the change in status. I found it very easy to get lost in the pages of this book and would definitely recommend it to others looking for a good Irish read!
