I love accents. Especially Scottish ones right now.

Highland fire was one of those books that I honestly read for a reading challenge but ended up really liking it. I’m really happy I dove into it because now I can’t wait to find out what will happen in the next book of this series.

In it, you will meet aiden and Lili. You also meet other people but I just want to talk about them. I love them from the very beginning. Aiden was smitten with her from the very start. Whereas lili was shy and cautious because of her terrible reputation. Honestly, I felt so bad for her. I also didn’t like that his sisters basically told her that they didn’t approve of her to her face. However, Aiden swept is both of our feet because he gave zero fucks about what everyone else thought.

Overall, I really liked the little mystery about the stone. I also really enjoyed the smutty romance scenes. I can’t wait to dive into book 2!

Loved this setting for a medival tale

This story was so interesting with the early beliefs still in affect, the fairies, curses, Una was like a priestess. Lileas being sent to the very people who cursed her before her birth. Aiden is one of the best alpha males I have read. The most caring and protective yet humble and not wanting power for himself. I love the overall storyline and their romance so much! Just a great read.

Magical and rich in history

This highland love story is full of vivid imagery and rich in the magical history of the last of dying breed of true Scotts, at a time when the English were slowly taking over every inch with their blood and their religion. A beautiful tale of a mother's love for her son and the lengths she will go to to ensure he has a furniture. Though falling in love with the man she is meant to kill certainly makes everything a lot harder. The strong laird of the land is a hard man, scarred by the slaying of his clan, though what possessed him to agree to marry the daughter of the man responsible is beyond him. He struggles every day not to fall for her, as she is cursed to loose the husband who loves her, but finds himself slowly losing the battle. A lovely team I read in day and have enjoyed immensely. Just what I needed on this cold winters day.

I wouldn’t say this book is romantasy, but the bit of magic and storyline related to fate and destiny was perfect for me. I loved Aiden, and Lili was also a great FMC, torn without coming across as whiny. I was a bit disappointed by how abruptly the book seemed the end but the epilogue helped bring some of the closure I was looking for and I understand why it was done in that order. Overall, I really enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series and how the other characters in the series I love will play a role in this larger plot of protecting the stone.

This was drawn out far longer than it needed to be with the amount of downtime the plot had… and also, the use of uisge throughout the book was detracting because that means water. Uisge-beatha was used in the beginning but then was shortened which doesn’t work like that.. beatha gives the word water life. So if this whole book had ppl getting toasted off water and their water was able to explode

you know what? i am really glad to have read this book. my expectations were pretty low, considering i got the book for free on amazon. i guess i assumed price quantifies quality- but i was so wrong!

for a romance novel, i will give yall a heads up- its light and not overly gratuitous in sex scenes. the book actually takes love making and skims with a feather touch over the graphic parts, but makes sure to emphasize the emotions behind the action. i really appreciate that, as you dont see that with a lot of romance novels (they focus on being pornographic rather than literature)

this book definitely delves into historical romance, whilst taking liberties when it comes to historical accuracy. however, with that said, the storyline and plot are absolutely believable. my favorite part about this read, though, is the competency of the writing.

while i wasnt going into this book expecting to get stuck in a series - it was a quick and delightful enough read that i am delving right in and buying the rest of the series.
take my cue and try out a solid historical romance that will leave you smiling when its over. :)

I don't know if I liked it so much because I had just finished an awful read or if it really is just that good. At this point, it doesn't matter.

Another romance set in Scotland! This time much earlier so there were definitely quite a few anachronisms but the author does have a wonderful afterward in which she explains the choices she made. Also, they didn't really take away from the story and the characters. A little addition of magic, maybe, or maybe just the belief in magic? Hrmmm.

Interesting history or rather alternative history that I didn't know existed! A nice mystery, a lot of back story thrown in to explain the feuds and curses (world building) and the obligatory "I've never felt this way about a man/woman before" romance. All woven together in a nice neat package, easy to read, easy to enjoy. The characters had enough depth to make them interesting, although the villain was a bit shallow. 3.5 out of 5 but since there are no halves here I round up to a 4 because I found myself wanting to read it and find out what happens AND it helped me forget the horrid book I finished before it. Also, I went looking for the second book in the series...
