I quite enjoyed this book although Hergé is extremely limited in his understanding and representation of America (it's mainly filled with gangsters and Native Americans), however the book does give a critical statement over his opinion regarding lynching and the theft of Native American land to American business and greed for oil.

So much gd fun

Tintin is a lot more chill in this and he doesn’t go trophy hunting or colonising so he’s good with me. Also there seems to be purposeful anti-expansionist satire in here too. It’s fun

For something this old, this is pretty good. A real story with pretty decent art. The characterization is pretty thin and there are basically no female characters. And the understanding of how the law works isn't much. This is my first look at Tintin. I can't say that it has blown me away. It is a bit lame and somewhat repetitive. And silly. But still surprisingly better than I expected.

First time reading TinTin all the way through. I've heard the first few aren't as good as the later ones so hopefully they'll only get better from here on out. Fun to read though.

I thought it was funny when I was wee small. Much less so now that I can follow along with the racism.

This was the first coloured edition of the tintin books and much of the racist outlook and Various propaganda were thrown out of the window, making this portrayal of Tintin much closer to the one we have known and loved

That said the Talking Dog and Characters not dying after stuff like explosion, car accident and Train accident still exists making this issue despite a much better installment than its predecessor still a book that hasn't aged well for this day and age

What can we say, It's Tintin. He's going around the world and solving mysteries with a lot of luckkk.

This book was the first Tintin comic I read in my life. When I was 13 I read this, and started loving this book. Because I forgot what had happened in the book, I decided to go over my advice and read it. Guess what it was wonderful!!

The characters

Since this was one of the first few books, there weren't many known characters except for Snowy and Tintin. But Tintin was again the luckiest, escaping death is his specialty if you want to know.

Summary

Chicago is a city ridden with gangs and mobs. Tintin starts his action the moment he gets into Chicago, getting kidnapped is a nice way of starting a Tintin book I might say. The leader of GSC hates Tintin to even come to Chicago!! (Tintin has a nice reputation everywhere)
