Good job, dog. You learned from mistake and stood up for yourself.

Read it to my 9 and 12 year old boys tonight for fun. We loved it. There was so much laughter. Definitely recommend adding it to your to-read pile.

There are so few begin-to-read books that really stand out, but this one is hilarious. Would also be really fun in a storytime.

A good easy reader with the narrator of the book and the text/thought bubble from the dog. Simple words and repetitive text between the two characters. Humorous dialog and we see Max the dog progress from confused to clever by the end of the book.

Verdict: The short sentences have a steady rhythm and repetitive nature that is perfect for fans of Mo Willems and is a recommended addition for libraries in need of more early readers.
