Honestly, it started off pretty strong but ended up falling flat the last 1/4 of the book
Sloan was questionable, Alice done pissed me tf off, we didn’t get enough KatexAugust content and we moved wayyy too fast from the group of friends Kate finds herself with in Prosperity. I mean, I thought we’d get a lil reunion or something, given how much they did for her.
Anyways, the ending was 🥲 but nevertheless, got through it all

Puntaje: 5 Marinas

Okay. I dunno how to write my thoughts. At all. It's been a while since I've finished a book, let alone a series. (Duology, ho!) So it's hard to express my opinions on this book.
Overall, so much to love. The character work, the world, even the daunting task of pacing and momentum was done well. I find that this series of Schawb's has such a resonant lore. The idea is just so cool, that your sins, your evil, make monsters. The themes explored, etc.
The writing is good, and it read super fast to me. I was hooked from the start and was there until the last page.
See, that's kinda where my feelings get murky. The ending didn't leave me with that sense of "yes". I've come to love Schawb's endings, whatever they may be, because when we get there I see "why this". I see the story in it's complete form, and I am satisfied. Am I always happy? Nope, I've cried at her endings before. I cried here too, tbh. It's the difference between catharsis and just being ehhh.
So, I'm taking marks for that, and pretty much that alone. Maybe it's when I'm reading this, the phase of the moon, or something besides the quality of the book. BUT my reviews are always partial, always my opinion. I will just say, it wasn't a terrible ending, or even a mediocre one, it just didn't hit ME right in my heart. It didn't resonate.
That being said I'm glad I read this series and I'm glad I finished this book at last. I'll probably read anything Schwab writes in the future.

it was alright but i gave it 2 stars because it was still kind of an enormous let down after reading the first unfortunately :/
This book almost made me cry. Almost. I actually like duologies because sometimes three+ books in a series can become tiring to read in the long run. Which is kinda ironic for me to say because my favorites are series with 3+ books. Anyway, the Monsters of Verity duology is one of my most favorite reads of the year. Which is another strange thing for me because I'm not a fan of dystopians. I've been converted by Victoria Schwab. Cheers.
Our Dark Duet is the perfect sequel to its predecessor. Not all sequels are as good as the first book but I assure you that this book is just as good—if not better—than This Savage Song . The storyline is just as engaging especially because the first few chapters (that were focused on Kate) revolved around Prosperity and not Verity. It was interesting to read about another city battling a new surge of monsters, including one that was even more destructive than the Corsai, Malchai and Sunai. Kate's and August's character developments were staggering too. Well, August's development broke my heart but it was realistic and necessary. Schwab wrote about the scenes after Callum Harker's death so well. I hate Sloan and Alice, by the way. I love August and Kate. I also love Harry Flynn, his wife, and Ilsa.
The ending still hasn't sunk in even now. I didn't cry but I wanted to. I knew Schwab likes sad endings and
Monsters of Verity is a series worth reading and Victoria Schwab is an author worth loving. She has broken my heart many times already but she's so brilliant I can't help but admire her.

deaths but Ilsa's death broke me and Kate's final moments made me want to scream in the void for three days. My heart broke for precious August and I know if I wasn't reading in a public place then, I would've cried my eyes out when Kate died.Monsters of Verity is a series worth reading and Victoria Schwab is an author worth loving. Our Dark Duet is brilliant, heart-wrenching conclusion to on the most imaginative/topical duology in the YA space.
I love all of V E Schwab’s books and this was no exception
I didn’t find it as compelling as the first one but still enjoyed it.
