I really enjoyed the first half of this book and found the love story intriguing, but it lost momentum for me in the second half. It wasn’t the weirdest thing I’ve ever read, so I think I was expecting more based on the “wild ride” hype—and that expectation just didn’t match the experience.

I struggled to connect with the main characters. I’d start to enjoy Tem and Caspen, and then suddenly she was with Leo. The constant back-and-forth between the two drove me a little crazy—pick one already! Caspen keeps secrets, Leo’s a doormat… neither relationship felt satisfying.

I did appreciate the darker, gothic undertones, which gave the story a unique atmosphere. But overall, it didn’t leave much of a lasting impression. Not bad, just not especially memorable.

If you enjoy creature romance with a gothic twist, this might be more your vibe. For me, it was a middle-of-the-road read—one I didn’t hate, but likely won’t revisit.
