This was a wonderful book. There are several lessons and talking points that can be teased out.

Loved this picture book about the vulnerability of creativity, especially the impact it can have on kids.

Lovely. Would be great for perfectionist children, I think.

This was so wonderful and perfect. Wanna get a physical copy when I’m a mom. Wish I had read something like this when I was younger. Lovely message. And Latin names!

This is a great example of realistic fiction as the young boy in the story experienced the discomfort of his artwork being criticized by others. You see him lose his passion for drawing as his confidence is diminished by others' comments. When someone else uses the term 'ish' to describe the way his work correlates with what he was intending to create, he regains his confidence. The boy accepts that his art may not look exactly like the real things but 'ish' is perfectly acceptable.

This was an adorable story about what it's like to create - not everything you do will look exactly like a picture or sound exactly like a poem. But if it makes you happy and if you enjoyed creating it - it doesn't matter. Be as "-ish" as you need and don't define yourself by perfection.
