I love Rachel Held Evans but this book just didn’t resonate with me at this point in my life. There was a lot of talk about sin, which is a concept I don’t know that I believe in. Afterward by Nadia Bolz-Weber hit hard tho

This book is beautifully edited, but you can still tell that she wasn’t done. It makes me so mad, because you can already tell how even more fantastic this book could have been had she been able to finish it. Have a box of tissues handy while you read.

I like RHE and her view of the world and faith. This book was far from a favorite though as it didn’t seem to have movement or growth of the concept throughout. Not a criticism as her since this was published posthumous; perhaps this wouldn’t have been her ready-to-publish version.

Many of the thoughts in here are unfinished and raw, and you can definitely see where Held Evans was working through what she wanted to say. I appreciate that Jeff Chu left these bits, and you can tell the care that went into finishing this collection after her untimely passing without putting words in her mouth. I am sad for what could have been and sad we lost her voice, but I was also grateful to get my hands on this slim book anyway.
