It is SO👏good👏!  Dr. McMillam Cottom goes off and is compellingly rigorous about preaching many truths.
reflective slow-paced

I'd been looking forward to checking this out, but it so quickly put me off. After the other books I've read about Black feminism, this was just such a let down. The author brushes against some important interesting content when she gets personal, but then it all gets lost in a lot of academic whataboutism. I'm not sure who she thinks her audience is, but it all felt less like someone sharing information and more like a lecture. It's not surprising that one of her essays is focused on the merit of the New York Times hiring a full-time Black woman as an editorial writer, because these essays are rank with the sort of pretentious, overthought writings that the NYT editorial pages have become known for.
