I enjoyed this one more than knight. the one thing I will say that disappointed me was that KA skipped over their "first time". if every other chapter was dedicated to a flash back that lead up to their "first time," then she should have wrote about it. the couple's journey was pretty whacked and I don't think that scene should have been left to the imagination. otherwise this one was much hotter.
I'm a sucker for stories about childhood loves finding each other as adults, so I couldn't pass this one up. I have to say, though, it's not really what I had expected... and I don't mean that in a bad way. Just that, from the synopsis, the idea of the story I had in mind ended up being different.
That said, I initially wasn't sure I was going to like it. The heroine is very rough around the edges, which in and of itself isn't bad, but I found it a little hard to relate to what she does for a living. After she meets the hero again, the story line changes a little. I found it odd how involved the side story with Knight and the girls was described initially, but then it sort of disappears about halfway through the book. The story telling was also a bit disjointed, feeding information in pieces. I think this was intentional, but I found it frustrating as a reader that I wasn't getting the full story as the heroine got it. Like some of the other readers, I was put off by the thing with Creed's children's names (no spoilers, but you'll see) and found it hard to get past even after the heroine did.
All in all, I ended up enjoying the story and the writing is pretty good. The ending was sweet and satisfying and worth the journey, I think. I'm giving it 3 stars because I didn't fall in love with the story the way I have with other books, but it was entertaining regardless.

First I will say what I love about this. EVERYTHING! Creed and Sylvie's relationship was beautiful. OMG. Words can not describe. The way he protected her/tried to shield her/became her rock/her strength...beautiful.
What Sylvie went through. My god. My heart ached. What Creed went through. My god. He's right, no less ugly.
“Born to love you, baby,” he repeated. “Die lovin’ you, my Sylvie.”
"You're my world, Sylvie. Always have been. Always will be."
“I’m not what you want, Sylvie, I get that because its the same for you as it is for me. I’m not what you want ’cause I’m what you need.”
“For over twenty-seven years, every day, every minute, every second, I’ve loved you, Tucker Creed.”
I mean, come on. How can you not love Tucker Creed?
What I didn't like about this? Knight and Sylvie are super close and have this unbelievable bond, yet not one mention of her in his book? Hmmm... It wasn't lost on me that he never told her he loved her because those words are for Anya only. Does Anya know he's all up in his "bottom of my soul" with Sylvie?
Also love Hawk scene and Lee mention :) My boys.

I got to point in this book when there wasn't enough action for me but I pulled through and enjoyed it
Okay, like the first book in this series, I demolished this book. BUT this was way way better than the first book and I'm solely tempted to go back and downgrade that rating... but the main characters in this book were great and yes, hot and steamy, but actually loved the developing storyline. Well done!
Still love this one!
Sylvie is amazing and actually may be one of my all time favourite KA females. She is a badass with a heart of pure gold. Creed is also kind of amazing.
I am an absolute sucker for the second chance trope. It's my all time favourite to be honest and KA does a lot of them. I wonder if that's why I love her so much?
You know what I don't get now and didn't get back when I first read it? Why was Sylvie never mentioned in Knight? I wonder did she only think of Sylvie after she wrote and published Knight? If she'd been in that I may have liked the book more. She is seriously so badass she could have saved tame 'Daddy Kink' for me. :D
Also, I originally read this through iBooks and just bought it on Kindle for this reread. There were certain sections where the formatting and spelling and grammar were cray, cray. Anyone else have this problem? I don't remember it happening with the iBook. I must investigate further!
Anyways, I love this one and most of that love is Sylvie! <3

Still about a 3.5 star rating. Sophie and Creeds lost years and love story still resonate with me and I was glad to see a heroine suffering in a real way from PTSD and her sexual abuse. Not all girls just shut their legs and let no one in. Some go far in the other direction and use sex as a weapon almost. Great look into how people cope with trauma differently.
1st read Sept 2014:
Sleep? Who needs sleep? I started this thinking I’d just get a few chapters in and then go to bed but that never seems to be the case with KA books. There is something about the characters that draws me in and I just can’t let it go until I’m done.
This series isn’t for everyone for a number of reasons. The heroes are more anti-heroes teetering on the line between good and bad. Their jobs and tactics might be a bit questionable. There is also something a little guttural or less polished about the words they use, almost caveman like grunting at times. And still I love them, although I’m not sure why. Then there is sex, sex and more sex a lot more than in Knight. I’m not complaining, because it was hot, just warning.
Sylvia was a bad ass at work and I was hoping that was going to translate over into her emotional life as well but with Creed she turns into an absolute softy. It is hard to reconcile the two ways she behaves into one person at times for me.
I really like the switch back and forth between when they were kids leading up to when everything went wrong and their present lives. I wanted it all to work out, I needed to know what happened that separated them for 16 years. The reconnection of Creed to Sylvie was warm, tender and moving.
Other things I enjoyed were seeing Anya and Knight again with their kids as well as a few other characters from the first book. I did like Knight a little bit better but just because it streamlined really well and this might have jumped around too much.
If you like KA books then this one will probably be another win for you are well.

I liked this book but I didn't love it. It seemed a bit too long and not for any specific reason. I loved the character development and the writing though.
Ok...so this one was not quite I expected from this series...but in the end I was pleased. I even ended up getting chills at the end. This is a love story of two badasses who were tragically ripped apart. This story is also how they found their way back to each other. They always knew they were soulmates and once they found each other there were no real games as far as will they or won't they. They loved each other deeply. The obstacles were them (moreso Sylvie) coming to terms with the truth of what ripped them apart.
Hot, hot, hot for sure. Creed and Sylvie were combustible.
