TOP FOREVER FAVORITE

This was a really hard book to read. It has a lot of abuse, torture and scares inside and out for both Creed and Sylvie.
A lot of people said in there reviews this was their favourite I did love it but it wasn’t my favourite.
I love that Sylvie was her own kind of badass, she totally ruled it. I don't totally agree with Knight's side business with his girls but he does so it with integrity respect and heart which makes him the perfect anti-hero and perfect boss for Sylvie.
This book has a more lovey dovey, roses and candles about it especially when Creed and Sylvie talk about their feeling but I loved it.
As alway amazing KA epilogue and HEA.

Holy shit I didn't expect quite THAT much pain but I loved reading Creed and Sylvie's story despite the trauma and pain. The plot was structured beautifully and I can't wait for the next in the series.

Not great, not bad either. Just Okay

Contemporary, Second Chance, MF,
FMC has a history of abuse

FMC and MMC were each other's first loves, soul mates of a sort. Something caused them to separate in the past and then the FMC went through abuse while the MMC was left thinking she was dead? or lost to him somehow? Not sure which, either it wasn't explained fully or I wasn't paying attention. MMC went on to marry and have kids with someone else, but always carried a torch for the FMC and this caused his wife to leave him.

Many years later he walks back into her life, but the FMC is not thrilled to see him because she thinks he just abandoned her but the truth is much more complicated.

FMC is a "Badass" woman who works as some kind of pimp/protector in Knights (MMC from book 1 in the series) prostitution business. But their good pimps who watch out for and take care of the girls which makes it all okay somehow. MMC sees things a bit differently, but that's later on in the story.

First love couple gets reunited and work on healing all the old scars together so they can live their HEA, FIN.

Man, I love me some Kristen Ashley reading, it makes me joyful. I absolutely adored this book because it was different than the other Ashley books that I have read. First, the other books that I have read by Ashley have always had the couple meet and a relationship builds from there. However, this plot has a different twist because Sylvie and Creed meet during childhood, were separated, and then brought back together again. Also, Ashley presented us with a different type of woman in this book. Sylvie is a kick-butt kind of woman who can fight her own battles and doesn’t need a man to do it for her. But her man, Creed who is so sexy, returns, how could she not want him by her side.

Creed is the ultimate hero in my eyes. He is Sylvie’s heart, her hero, her best friend, and her protector, oh and he is super hot! Their background story is a heart-wrencher and left me as the reader emotionally drained. It made me want the absolute best for them because of all that they have been through. However, that background made them who they are, how they built their life, survived their life, and how glorious it was when they met again.

I loved the flashbacks to their childhood and the moments that they spent together. I actually craved them so that I could get to know the characters more. I also loved that Creed was an honorable boy, teenager, and man while watching Sylvie grow up. He protected her, loved her, but knew that she was too young to start a serious relationship until she was ready.

BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT!

Loved it! Tragic but terrific story. Great ending!

Kristen Ashley can do no wrong. I love the crap out of every freaking book she writes. Creed is no different. I loved the shit out of it! It was badass, sexy, romantic, funny, suspenseful and emotional all-in-one. Creed is the second in the Unfinished Hero Series, the first being Knight. (See my review here)

Told in alternating present day and flashback, we meet Sylvie and Creed when she is 6 and he is 11. Sylvie lives with her wealthy ass dad and stepmonster and escapes the house to get away from ‘the words’ of her daddy and stepmom, fighting, often violently. She runs into the woods, right into Tucker Creed. 11 year old Tucker lost his dad and his mom is the town drunk/slut. Tucker may be from the wrong side of the tracks, but they immediately bond, and he vows to protect Sylvie forever. Throughout the next decade or so of growing up, Tucker is there for her, her best friend, her protector, and eventually her boyfriend, but they keep their relationship a secret from the world. They make plans to run away together as soon as she is legal, on her 18th birthday. Tucker has always been there for her. Always. But he never showed, and they never saw each other again.

Present day, 16 years later. Sylvie is a badass chick, working as a protector for Knight. With no boyfriend or family, a home she hasn’t made into her own, Sylvie is missing something in her life. She’s fairly happy, has very loyal and devoted friends, but has never really been in a relationship. She works alone, but when some issues crop up in Knight’s organization, he brings in a partner for Sylvie. Guess who it is? Tucker Creed, 16 years later, after abandoning her on that pier, waiting for him, on her 18th birthday.

“Tucker Creed, my first love, my protector, my savior. My betrayer.”

All of this is revealed going back and forth between present and past tense, and I enjoyed the way it unfolded. Tucker Creed was an amazing boy, that turned into an even more amazing man. Try as she might to avoid getting involved again with Creed, there was no way to avoid it. How can you not give in to this?

-“Born to love you, baby,” he repeated. “Die lovin’ you, my Sylvie.”

-”I’ll never let you go but I’ll let you leave…for now.”
-”You’re my world, Sylvie. Always have been. Always will be.”

-“You need me. You won’t stay away and you won’t let me go because, baby, you can’t breathe without me.”

As the story progresses and they are back together, it is so clear that these two were made for each other. They are so alike in so many ways, it’s like they share a soul. Though Sylvie has changed a lot in 16 years, she has turned into an even better partner for Creed.

-“Then and now, beautiful, I’ll take you any way you come to me … Any way. I love this Sylvie, I loved that Sylvie. I just love you, baby.”

-“You love me?” he asked quietly. I dipped my face close and answered quietly, “On a cold night, a long time ago, you put your hands almost exactly where they are right now and, I might have been six years old, but I fell hard. So, yeah. For over twenty-seven years, every day, every minute, every second, I’ve loved you, Tucker Creed.”

I did, however, find myself a little confused when, at about 75%, I felt like I missed something. My buddy over at Scandalicious told me to HANG ON! I did. Holy Crap. Now I get it. I see why he left. I even see why he stayed away for years. But not 16 years. Creed is a full-fledged badass. If he spent his life pining away for the love of his life, tattooing her name on his back and other things (no spoiler), why didn’t he try to find her? OK, I see that perhaps he couldn’t deal with seeing her happy with someone else. But 16 years is a LONG time, especially with 50% of marriages ending in divorce. If he couldn’t handle seeing her, at least look her up or have her investigated! Find out if she is married. I don’t know, but that really upset me. He is SO PERFECT for her, he is absolutely and totally devoted, but that just felt off to me.

Of course, this did not really detract from the story. Creed was definitely more character driven than previous Kristen Ashley books. More focus was on Sylvie and Creed than the action that usually takes place in her books. And I must say, I really loved both of them. Sylvie was interesting. Her personality changed from the beginning of the story where she was a female alpha badass to the end where she was more of a typical awesome KA heroine. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that it worked. Once she found the other half that she lost, she was able to come into her own.

The sex was very hot, but I still wouldn’t call this erotic. I would have liked a little more buildup in those scenes. Last, another AMAZING epilogue by Kristen. She never lets you down with her epilogues!

Likes:

-I loved Sylvie. I understand a lot of people didn’t. I thought it was cool she was a badass who got mani-pedis.
-Creed was awesome as a kid, even more awesome as an adult.
-Creed’s kids were great, and I loved his ex, which was a real departure from Kristen’s bitchy ex-wives club.
-Sylvie’s super close relationship with Knight.

Dislikes:

-There was no discussion as to why he never looked for her.
-This may be petty, but there was one really hot sex scene with oil and anal. They were on the couch, and Kristen, who writes great detail, described the scene. I could not figure it out for the life of me, and it kept taking me out of what was the hottest scene in the book.

Rating: 5 stars, 4 for Heat

I loved this book. It isn’t my favorite Kristen Ashley book, however. I loved the characters, and Creed is one of my favorite KA men. I just felt like it moved a little slower, I put it down a little more, and because of that, I felt like I missed something, since it took so long to find out what really happened. That, and the fact that I still can’t see why it took 16 years for them to reunite, make it a book I absolutely loved, but not as much as many of her other books. Usually when I read her books I find myself “squeeing” all over twitter and goodreads and I read it in one sitting. I was busy, but still, it took me 3 days to read this, and I never went online about it. Again, this is a 5 star read, but compared to some others, like Sweet Dreams, Motorcycle Man and Games of The Heart, it is not as high on my 5 star list.
emotional relaxing slow-paced

This was a 3.5 stars read for me, from an author who is usually a solid 4 star read. It's not that I didn't like the book. I did. Let's face it, Kristen Ashley even on a bad day knows how to weave a good yarn with some ass kicking of bad guys and some steamy sex scenes to boot :-) But it was less than I was hoping for.

I loved Sylvie's character. She. kicked. ass. And it's so novel to see a female lead in a Kristen Ashley book (apart from Jules in Rock Chick Renegade), who can lead. Who can be tough, who smokes, who can separate her heart from her body and who swears. Because she is meant to be a badass, through her job and through her own perceptions of herself, so for me, it worked. I found it refreshing to see a heroine who wasn't a cookie-cutter version of every other and whose history completely explained why she had become the way she was.

What disappointed me was that the plot (except for the backstory) and the hero seemed so much like others in the K.A. lineup... Don't get me wrong, there's an element of "if it aint broke don't fix it" going on here, because I have to say K.A.'s heroes are smokin' hot! But I felt that in trying to get these two characters together, they changed from the tough bad-ass H/h we meet at the beginning of the book into something too mushy. I loved the angst, loved the backstory, loved the characters at the beginning of the book. But when I finished, I was left flat and wondering if K.A. has started writing from a formula. I hope not.

This series keeps getting better and better. Knight was an excellent read. Creed was phenomenal! I loved the dynamic and chemistry between Creed and Sylvie. Plus, you can't help but love a tiny little badass woman who doesn't put up with anyone's shit!
