I’m never disappointed by Horowitz, great who dun it read. 4 stars only because I liked the first one more!

I bought the book today and devoured it in 7 hours! I think I enjoyed this book better than the first book in the series. I like the way Anthony Horowitz writes about himself in the book. At first I thought the concept was a bit conceited on the part of the Horowitz, but it does not come across that way at all. A highly recommended read. I am looking forward to the next instalment.
adventurous mysterious medium-paced

Anthony Horowitz is one of the more imaginative and creative mystery authors I had the pleasure of reading; he seamlessly blends fact with fiction to create an intriguing and entertaining book series.

I devoured the first book in the series, “The Word is Murder,“ and the moment I finished it I picked up this book, which I enjoyed just as much. I can’t wait to read the third and fourth books!

3.5 stars

A little predictable but very enjoyable!

Great mystery, I love how he makes himself a character in his own books. Very entertaining.

2.5 stars. This was not as good as the first one. The mystery didn't grab me as much, and honestly I had trouble keeping up with how the two mysteries tied together through the whole thing. Even when it was all explained at the end, it seemed kind of meh. There were a couple little twists that made it more interesting but the story on this one gets a big old meh from me. What I did really like, as with the first one, was the way it was written, the meta self aware nature of the storytelling (like, I'd totally believe that this is a true story, as the book proclaims), and learning more about Hawthorne. But I can't say it makes me super excited for another. (The author plans to write ten. My God. Lol)

I love this series. The premise is a bit odd, but it's very endearing. The Holmes/Watson dynamic continues and the mysteries are great. I'm moving right along to the next one!

Enjoyed the read. Wasn't as good as the first one in the series, but still likable enough.
