These books are such a romp! I love the "meta" nature of Horowitz, as "himself", playing Watson to a modern day Sherlock Holmes. Somehow, I felt even more invested in this book than I did the previous one -- I find myself more and more attached to the detective pair -- and will now look forward to the third in the trilogy.

Liked this one more than the first, partly because the whole story seem more coherent and the motive is not as random, and the several twists in the end really made me go “wow” when listening. Just a thought…having a kid as the murderer for the second book really reminded me a lot of The Tragedy of Y by Queen. The first book is a bit similar too in the sense that the killer is someone from the victim’s past in disguise. Love to see what the third book would be about! The mystery of the wheelchair kid was left out, possibly on purpose?
adventurous challenging sad tense

Interesting when the character you least like is actually the author who has written himself into the novel.
