A fantastic portrayal of young life on the Rez. The Red Lake Nation is in my backyard and my wife works there. I have plenty of friends who are from Red Lake. This story is touching and heart aching. It is a great lesson for non-Natives on what young Natives are faced with growing up. Very well done.
Decent. It had tons of descriptions about basketball. Drinking in book. Probably would be ok for middle school

I'm not a "sports person" but this game had me cheering out-loud for Red Lake!
loved the authentic voice of Tre Brun who is navigating High School, playing varsity basketball, and dealing with grief. Frank discussion about living on the reservation and racism off the reservation in shopping malls, with police officers, as well as on the court and with white fans in the stands.

Grateful for this read, especially during thanksgiving season. It is really all about community at the end of the day, chosen and inherited.
Fast-paced story based on the true story of the first Native American high school basketball team to win the state championship in Minnesota. I enjoyed the character development and seeing how Tre both makes mistakes and recovers from them.
