I really enjoyed this book and how it felt like a hero’s journey. Even though he is only a sophomore in high school, Tre has big dreams. He wants to take his Ojibwe basketball team to their first state championship, and one day play in the NBA. For himself, for his reservation, but most importantly for his family and his brother Jaxon.

The story had so much heart, and I loved the found family aspect. Tre and his friends, the basketball team, and the community as a whole, all felt like a tight knit family. I don't read a lot of young adult books with a male lead, and this representation is much needed. Tre was a positive influence that many can look up to. I also loved how the author incorporated his own experiences into the story.
