We see the second set going point-to-point into the 30s!!! 31-29 to Karasuno! That spectacular denial of Ushijima by Tsukishima????? Oh that was scrumptious!

But the third set goes to Shiratorizawa after Shirabu pulls the team back into their own rhythm, which they had been knocked off by Tsuki's excellent blocking reads and forcing them off their game in set 2. Shirabu is splendid in his own way. I loved seeing Kawanishi get some nice screentime too, he's cute haha.

Reon Ohira is level headed, and knows how to handle the team, like cheering Goshiki up or giving Tendo a listening ear. I detest Tanji Washijo, he hits his students? In one panel we actually see Shirabu having marks on his cheek, and I've found the first irredeemable character in this series.

Mr. Unperturbed, Ushijima, actually rebukes Hinata???? Hinata has gotten under his skin, not because he has exceptional athletic abilities, but because his confidence is unfounded and his blocking and receiving skills are severely lacking. I find that hilarious.

But Hinata learns to block his own way, by making a good approach to run and jump and get good height to help block, and though it's double the effort he is extending, the team finds success. Old Coach Ukai comes to the stands, and makes great observations. It's Ukai vs Washijo in a sense, their diametrically opposed views of how to approach playing volleyball.

I think this is excellent and the artwork was beautiful, so happy to jump right into the next installment.

Volume 19 continues the Shiratorizawa vs Karasuno game. I continue to love these books along with the anime I have seen. I love the progression and game development we see with Tsukishima and Nishinoya in this volume, it’s awesome to see everyone playing at their best in the world of Haikyu!! The rallies are enjoyable to watch, and the characters are fun to see flourish. Cannot wait to see the results of the finals of the Haikyu tournament. Again, an overall 5 star read.
P.S. Adored the little side story with my favourite boys in the series, Bokuto and Akaashi.

Just a block. Just one point. Just a club…

That’s the moment that volleyball hooks you!

"Just a block. Just one point out of 25. Just a school club... But if... Just if... THAT moment comes for you... THAT... Will be the moment volleyball hooks you."

Don't you worry, Furadate-sensei, I'm hooked! Another incredible volume, this match against Shiratorizawa has me on the edge of my seat.

We FINALLY got our Tsukishima moment! An incredible block on Ushijima, that came out of precise planning and calculation, and won Kara uno the second set! It's great to see him becoming a leader on the defense and put other guys in the right spot as well. Amazing character growth!

A lot of other good moments in this one:
* Some backstory on the Shibaru, the Shiratorizawa setter
* OG Coach Ukai showing up in the stands
* The constant back and forth of the match, showing the difference in coaching philosophies
* Hinata going balls to the wall, flying all over the court making plays

My favorite quote was when Grandpa Ukai comments on Hinata, "The only choice he has is to keep flying."

Hinata's play earned Karasuno a crucial break point and a two points lead in the third set. Looking forward to the conclusion in the next volume!

easily has one of my favorite scenes in any manga so far

Tsuki por siempre mi protegido ♡
