Good Story
The plot was a little complicated, but I was able to follow. I figured out one of the plot twists rather quickly. This was my first David Baldacci read and although it wasn't great, it was good enough for me to be interested in reading the next book in the series.

Finished the Archer series and decided to try out Will Robie. This was a suspenseful read, with lots of twists and turns. Baldacci paints a good introduction to Will Robie – I like that he isn’t some one-dimensional assassin with no compunctions. Robie is competent at his job, but he also feels conflict over his actions and decisions at times. For now I like Archer more than Robie, but I think that’s partly because most of the plot was filled with action, so there wasn’t much opportunity for character study. Fingers crossed the upcoming books reveal more about Robie as a person!
This was action-packed and pretty fast-paced, quite a difference from the Archer series. From what I’ve read of his work, Baldacci tends to lean heavily into plot-driven writing, which is why I find his books page-turners. I do enjoy easy reads with a decent quality of writing. Because of this I like to pair a Baldacci alongside other heavier reads; I can count on him to keep up my reading momentum while “resting” from other challenging reads.

A fast-paced 'page turner' to listen to while I was walking the dog.

Explosions, shooting, action... Just the kind of fluff I needed.
