I read this book because it was recommended by a poet. (It always comes back to poetry!) But I also read it as it was recommended as an introspective gem. I was thinking maybe I could relate too to this, given like, ya know, GH the sculptress, but I’m very glad to say that No. I did not relate to the woman in this who is clearly having a mental breakdown via Kafta-esque cockroach mourning. Win for me this rare occasion.
Some powerful prose (beneath the memory of the memory of the memory already lost…) but not totally on board with the overall musings on her part. I liked it is a radical voice, a female voice, with an uplifting ending in the process of alchemising her distress. Food for thought, thought for food. The ending is a great reflection on life.

making my grand return to goodreads to say that this is my favorite book of all time it resonated with me in a way no other piece of literature has and it’s truly magical. so winding and existentialist while also ascetic??! just a brilliant exploration of humanity by lispector. wow.
