Before you read this, make sure you've read 1-5 first. I made the mistake of thinking this was a standalone so I was quite confused for the first half of this book. Once I learned all the characters and the jist of what was going on, I got hooked! This book was jammed packed of action. Vampires, Lycans, mutated cloned Lycans, witchs, humans and I think an Angel are all battling against a prophecy. There's war within wars. You will definately not be bored with this series and now I need to go back to book one and see what I missed!

not my favorite in the series but that could just be me,but still an ok read, cant wait for the next one
I say it every time a new book in this series comes out, and I will say it again for this one. Wow wow wow, she has done it again! Not only has the author given us a book which grabs your attention straight away, she is drawing everything and everyone together towards a conclusion I cannot wait to read.
This is book 6 in the series and you must read the series in order to understand what is going on. If you haven't already read this series, and are a fan of paranormal books, I have just one question for you. Why haven't you read this series yet??!!
Each book which comes out brings us more information on what is happening in Blackthorn. This one is no exception. Although this is primarily Jask and Phia's continuing story, as with book 5 the author is bringing the characters together as most find themselves working together to try and sort out the mess caused by those trying to bring down all the species within Blackthorn.
The book is full of action, intrigue, secrets and lies. It grabs your attention immediately and will not let you go until you are screaming for the author to hurry up and bring us the next one! Well, at least it will if you are anything like me. My heart was in my mouth near the end as I was trying to second guess what the author was going to do. There are still a lot of questions to be answered by the end too.
This author is a huge favourite of mine, and the series is right at the top of my all time favourite book series ever. I can't wait for the next part, but at the same time I don't want to think about what will happen when the series comes to an end.
Highly recommended book for fans of the author, and highly recommended series for anyone looking for some long reading days and nights.
Huge thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review.

It has been a while since I have read this series so it took a minute to remember the previous events of the story.
This world is made up by classes. Blackthorn is the nucleus. It is a city where society has thrown all of its worst criminals to live. When vampires and lycans revealed themselves, humans formed the Global Council which quickly threw all of them in Blackthorn too until “they proved themselves” but the head of the Global Council, Sirius Throme, will never allow that to happen. Unfortunately, for the lycans and vampires, there is a prophecy about the 3rd species {vampires and lycans) overthrowing the human rule so Sirius wants them all dead.
This book focused on Sophia who was turned into a serryn after her sister Leila did a spell which passed it from herself to Sophia. A serryn is a vampire killer who has no empathy and kills or pure pleasure. She emits pheromones that make her irresistible to vampires but her blood is poison to them. Sophia is trying to hold off the serryn but it takes her over at times.
Prophecy foretells of a certain master vampire who will drink the serryn to the Brink (where third species go when they die) and become the Tryan, the most powerful vampire ever. We, the readers, know it is Caleb but Sirius is desperate to find out. He has upped his game and has decided to invade but he can't just invade without a reason so he has come up with an evil plan.
I found myself loathing Sophia throughout this book. She just seems reckless and makes dumb choices which puts everyone in danger. Some of it was caused from the serryn coming out in her but most of it was just her thinking she could be stronger than the serryn and refusing to listen to her sister Leila.
The story is revving up. I'm getting ready to read the next book now.

I really love this series, but this book had me really lost. Sophia just seemed to fuck up one thing after another and nobody ever seemed to get pissed at her about it. I don't know. It just didn't seem real. And when the action really picked up toward the last half of the book, I just felt like things were being juggled around too much. I don't hate how it ended or anything; I just wish there had been a more streamline way of telling the story, I guess. Anyway, I kind of hope the next book is a little less all-over-the-place.
I wanted to like this book more than I actually did. Unfortunately, I just didn't love Jask as much as I did in his first book and I still hate Sophia. In fact, even though she was A LOT better than the first time with her not thinking before acting or speaking, I ended up hating her even more. I was very pleased with her trying to be more mature and grounded for Jask and the pack, but with the Serryn in her now it just wasn't enough. Thank goodness for Kane, and especially for Eden. I am loving that guy more and more with every time he opens his mouth.
Both Jask and Sophia are put thru the ringer in this book. In similar but also very different ways. With the blue moon upon him, Jask has to fight against his lycan nature harder than normal. Only making that worse is the serryn inside of Phia quickly taking over. When the two of them come together it only fuels the destruction each one wants to inflict on the other. Despite each of them knowing it's not their true selves at that moment, it quickly becomes impossible for them to stop until it escalates to a point that both can't forgive themselves for what they do.
While Jask finds a tiny bit relief once the blue moon passes, Phia is not so lucky. That serryn is more powerful than she expected and Phia ends up single handedly ruining their group's best chance at an alliance of a sort with Caleb. Once she learns of something important though, she's determined to try and fix things. By taking a huge risk that does pay off. For her anyway. For Lelia, not so much and I was pretty upset with what happened. Speaking of Lelia. I was getting so incredibly aggravated that they just wouldn't let her fucking go to Caleb. Just let her go! She's pretty much the only one he would listen to. Why not let her go?! And I can't believe she never even once tried to escape on her own to go back to him.
A lot of bad things happen here, and a lot of people die. A couple that I was simply shocked over too. Throme has a lot of horrible tricks up his sleeves and it's looking like he's well on his way to getting what he wants.
My favorite line of this book is actually quite random, but I simply loved it:
"You want to save your girl then give me back mine."
I just love Caleb!! And he's claiming Leila as his...*sigh*

This is the 6th book in a series and the first one I read.
I don't recommend that you try to read this as a standalone. It's too confusing and I wasn't able to follow the story. I saw that there are many stellar reviews out there about this book, and I'm sure it's a fantastic series, but I wasn't able to get into it by stepping into the series with book 6.

I love this series and I loved this book. It was very climactic and had a great suspenseful climax then the ending had you on the edge of your seat and anxious for the next book. my only complaint is the author doesn't recap the past events in the series. It's been awhile since reading through past books so I get confused along the way with the newest book. It'd be nice to have a little recap and some explanation with the political part of the story as a refresher. I still love this story and the series. I am excited to read the next book!
Omfg!!! How does Lindsay do this everytime?!? I am being rhetorical, btw! This was epic. Period.

Time to review the sixth book, Blood Instinct, people.. My reviews for the previous books are here, here and here.. We are only left with two books now. I have a feeling we might be getting even more books in this world. I dunno. Gah. We are soo close. And it is getting so harder to review each book with passing time cos every book is soo great so far and just, I only have nice things to say about it.
You know I love this series and I have loved this series more and more with each new book. And now we are only left with two books which makes me kinda sad in contrast to how happy I was that there were 4 more books. But alas this series is going to end and I will miss these characters. I still love this series because every time with each instalment Lindsay ante's up the game.
Jask and Sophia handle some pretty serious stuff this instalment along with the rest of our cast. I thought the beginning or shall I say the first half of this book was a bit slow as compared to how things were at Blackthorn. I dunno how to explain it cos it was all logical how the pacing was but in my head I thought things should have been more fast paced. I loved loved the second half of the book. And that ending.
We got to witness so many revelations and soo many plot twists--the meandering path that this book drew based on the previous books and the upcoming books set the whole thing on fire. I have already told y'all Lindsay writes some crazy good stuff--she knows what she's doing.. She is handling everything so smoothly and I dunno how everything will play out at the end cos Lindsay sure is a genius writer.. So gahhh.. Be prepared to get shocked and what not cos the pendulum that began swinging when I started this instalment hit it's mark by the end of it..
So, after reading this instalment I think my favorite couple is Caleb and Leila. And they are not our narrators for the next book. Tehehe.
We already know the title of the next book.. Blood Bound and we might be getting it later this year, I think.. I hope we do.. Anyway, these last four instalments had multiple POV's and we got to see the inner workings of almost every nook and cranny of Blackthorn..
I am more nervous now for how everything will play out.. Gosh, I so want to see this world on TV.. Goodness..
Special thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley and Lindsay.
