A solid example of an Hercule Poirot mystery. I think I've read it before as the ultimate twist felt familiar to me - I enjoyed the story as a comforting and cozy fast read.

A perfect Agatha Christie mystery!

Another lovely Agatha Christie mystery, beautifully performed by Hugh Fraser. He plays Poirot and Japp so like the actors in the TV series, I sometimes wonder whether David Suchet and Philip Jackson snuck into the studio. The rampant sexism, typical of the period, is annoying but you can sort of tune it out. And Christie seems to have an obsession with drug-taking that I can't quite fathom. It's part of her amazing skill that her characters are never what they seem, but it's odd how many of her books have "drug-addled socialite" characters.

This Poirot held no secrets for me - I very clearly remembered the David Suchet episodes, they were extremely vivid in my mind (more vivid than other ones) because of how much enjoyed it. Despite knowing all of the crime, this did not diminish my excitement in reading the book. It was fun to see Poirot tricked, and watching him slowly figure out what I already knew. It was also extremely great to have Hastings back!

Unfortunately, I do think that knowing the ending made the book a bit less thrilling, as I wasn't sitting on the edge of my seat. So while I rate my experience 4 stars, I'll give the book 5 stars because I think it deserves it.

.. also I never could figure out why the Australian kept calling his wife "mother", I had to reread the same page over & over to figure out that his wife and ""mother"" were the same person.
mysterious

Reference to “the little gray cells” is over repeated but the plot kept you guessing with a great twist ending.

Another ripping yarn from Christie - which of the characters A-J will prove to be the perpetrator - and how can we be sure that all the suspects have fully been assessed?

Solid entry to the Christie oeuvre.

I think I like this review that uses Keanu Reeves GIFs better. This is art, y'all: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/37824969?book_show_action=true
