A classic romcom style easy read - enemies to fake-dating to real feelings! Very similar vibes to the film The Proposal

I really enjoyed this one, even more than the previous book in the series. The small-town setting added a cosy charm, and the fake engagement trope was well-executed, with plenty of chemistry between both MCs. I especially liked the found family aspect!

Melanie’s personal journey was engaging, and Evan’s steady, reliable nature made him a great counterpart. The balance between humour and emotional moments worked well, making it an easy and enjoyable read. While it’s not a new favourite, it’s definitely a solid romance that fans of the trope will appreciate.

The overall pacing of the story just felt weird to me. It felt like a slow burn with all the pining. Then once the heat started to turn up though things just felt so rushed out and the ending didn’t feel fully fleshed out enough for me. The resolution of the third act break up just made me hate the fact we even had the break up period.
Overall I enjoyed it though! Loved the setting, the banter, the smut, and the side characters.
Loved Nana the most of course, she’s a diva.

This felt like it was more of a slow read but I devoured it in 3 days. I enjoyed the pacing leading up to each event like the two main characters meeting, then to the boat, and so on and so forth. I'm trying so hard to spoil anything so I have to keep my review vague.
All in all, this was enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to the author's next release.
