Amy Lea has done it again, blending humor, heartfelt moments, and chemistry into a romance that kept me hooked until the very last page. As always, Lea’s pacing and writing make for a quick, fun read that’ll leave you wanting more.

It’s def not a meet-cute between these two... more like a “please take your influencer vibes elsewhere” moment, and if you’re a fan of grumpy meets sunshine, you’re going to eat this up. The dislike-to-love pipeline is strong here, though I wouldn't categorize this as “enemies to lovers” as much as “opposites attract,” because WOW do these two push each other’s buttons and their banter was bantering.

Now the fake engagmenet moment was lowkey insane to me... Lucy, aka Evan's cousing, tells the entire (bickering and feuding) Whaler family that Mel is Evan's fiance and she just goes along with it. The fam hoenstly treats her like she’s part of their own—engagement parties, horoscope readings, and all—and Melanie starts to feel something she’s never experienced before: true family warmth (don't want to spoilt too too much but honestly her feeling loved by family members did warm my lil cold heart)

I adored watching Mel step into her own and slowly allow herself to trust and open up. Evan, the grumpy fisherman with a heart of gold was so so good (I could have done with a lil less of the NS stereotypes but ce la vie).

If I had to give like a vibe feeling it was very much giving a mix between the proposal and while you were sleeping so I wasn't dissapointed just fair warning that if you are from the East Coast (Canada) it may get a tad bit cringey....

Felt bored and uninspired! I liked that it was set in NS, but the stereotypes felt cringey instead of cozy!

Best of the series for sure! You can tell the author really caught her stride and became confident in the third book. I loved the story- it had just the right amount of emotion, humor and spice. I would have LOVED more than the short part of the epilogue from Evans perspective, but that’s just personal preference.

The basic set up of this book reminded me of The Simple Wild - sunshine female influencer Mel ends up in a remote location and forced to interact with grumpy guy Evan who has said location in his bones. The plot diverges from there, with our main characters joining in a fake engagement scheme to try and save his family's inn.

I liked the main characters and loved Evan's family as side characters but wish the timeline wasn't so quick. It felt unrealistic that these two characters who'd been closed off to others for so long would fall in love and be willing to make such life altering decisions as a result in just a few weeks.

Audiobook Review:

3.5 stars

If While You Were Sleeping and The Proposal had a modern baby in Nova Scotia then this would be it. It’s a light and easy read.

Mel is an influencer who travels to Nova Scotia to help revamp her brand. There’s a mixup with the resort so she ends up in an outdated inn in a small seaside village. Evan, one of the owners of the inn can’t stand her on the spot.

While Evan takes her out whale watching, he saves her from falling overboard and falls overboard himself. She rides with him to the hospital and pretends to be his fiance so he’s not left alone. When she wakes up, Evan’s entire bickering family is wondering who she is. Evan’s cousin begs Mel and Evan to pretend to really be engaged to help heal their family.

As they pretend to be engaged they slowly come together more than they thought they would’ve. They live separate and opposite lives and find a way to make it work.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

No me alcanzan los dedos de la mano para contar las veces que me morí de risa y que se me derritió el corazón.

3.5 stars. I liked the other two books in the series better. I was looking forward to Mel’s story and for some reason I can’t put my finger on it didn’t love this.
