9/10. This was quite a good romance, I must admit. I was a bit put off at first because Evan was quite rude in the beginning. However, the reason he was rude was quite understandable after it was revealed. I’m not usually a huge lover of when two characters seriously can’t stand each other but thankfully I am a fan of fake dating. Melanie and Evan could not seem to be any different but I really like that a focal point for the story is that they both realize that they need to compromise in order to have a good relationship. Both of the main characters and even the background characters are very complex and interesting. I also do enjoy books where the setting seems to be its own character considering how important it is. Like I said, I don’t usually like when the man is mean but he actually ended up being a sweetie. Also, I really loved the actual romance once they got past their qualms about each other. I have read two other fishermen romances fairly recently so it was hard not to compare this book to them considering how similar they are and how much I loved the others. However, once the touching moments started, everything else fell away and I was yearning for a love like theirs. And the spicy scenes, whew. Those were also very good. Overall, not one of the best romances I’ve ever read but very good nonetheless. I believe this is the first book I’ve read from Amy Lea and I definitely enjoyed it so I will be giving her other books a chance at some point. Definitely recommend.

Nope. I’ve read A LOT of romance books. Like hundreds and this was quite literally the most cliche thing I’ve ever read. The tropes are all of my favorites but not character made me care about anything. Also can we never talk about the spicy scenes in this book. I’m so sorry this was just not it.

3.5 stars overall. I like the characters but the story is one I’ve read too many times before, and this one didn’t grab my attention or my emotions enough to be memorable.

I’m definitely going to keep picking up work by Amy Lea. The writing is compulsively readable and always a fun experience.

🌶️ 3/5 a few explicit vanilla encounters
