enjoyable book, but I felt that the contents of the actual plot happened wayyy too fast for it to be believable. also, didn't really enjoy the character of Julian, Melanie's brother, and he was a pretty heavily featured character towards the end. but overall, is enjoyable enough!

If you're relatively new to the rom-com genre, this might actually be a worthwhile read (despite the occasional requirement for a suspension of disbelief), but for everyone else, The Catch was uninspired and trope-tastic. I feel as though I've read this book one hundred times before.

Amy Lea is not untalented with the written word, so I'm not writing off her work just yet--it's really just the plot that has suffered in this instance.

This book was a lot of fun and really easy to listen to.

Our main character Melanie is an influencer and gets an opportunity to stay at a resort in Canada but due to a mix up it’s not till the week after she’s arrived so she travels to the only available B&B where she meets one of the owners, a grumpy fisherman lumberjack type. They immediately get off on the wrong foot. Along the way he saves her from falling off a boat and falls off himself resulting in an injury that lands him in the hospital. She feels bad and doesn’t want him to be there along so she lies and says she’s his finance which opens up a whole can of worms when the rest of his family shows up. They end up agreeing to fake an engagement to help bring his mom and aunt back together and help repair their relationship and along the way actually fall for each other.

I really liked both Melanie and Evan’s characters, they felt really believable and I enjoyed seeing them together when they’d both let their guards down a bit and actually enjoy each others company. The bickering was fun but seeing them open up was more my cup of tea. And his family was fun, very meddlesome but fun. I like that they all showed up at her door at the end 😂 And she had some family stuff on her side as well. She’s helped to raise her younger brother and still feels a responsibility to see him succeed especially after the loss of their father which sent him into a depressive episode. While she’s gone she constantly texts him checking in on him and they had a nice discussion at the end about everything.
