I flew through this utterly fascinating read. It gripped me from the start, and was one of those unputdownable books that saw me wanting to stay up late into the night (even though I really couldn't).

Fantastic plot, character development, just too short! I wish it could have carried on for another 210 pages, so I could learn more about the 'mad' women of the Salpetriere and their lives.

Not sure if it was the author's style or the translation that didn't work for me. The setting was really interesting though! This might have been better as a full novel, especially the ending felt rushed

Good story, good writing style. I never felt like it dragged on. I liked the mix of fantasy with historical fiction.

I liked the writing of the book, but everything else was very uncomfortable. I feel like there should also be some major trigger warnings in the first few pages because it was really hard to follow after some backstory was told.

I am a bit divided on this book. On the one hand, it was very interesting to read, and I felt sympathy for the characters. It also is very cool that the story itself is based on things that have happened in real life. On the other hand, I feel like there's too many open endings and that the book tried a little too hard to be feminist, which to me was a little too obvious. Over all, I enjoyed this book, but I think there could've been a bit more to it.
