Binge read this whole series in 6 days and it was TOTALLY worth it! Honestly, this was such a satisfying conclusion to a roller coaster series! I’m going to miss these characters. <3

I feel robbed of a great ending of what ifs. All that buildup for this?

Unmarked Spoilers ahead:

Falling Kingdoms is not a fairy tale retelling and yet has this most happily ever after ending I could think of.

Of course there was no way Magnus could die. Magnus has way too much attitude even when someone is helping him. Like calm it down bro.

Of course while everyone who the Kindred have taken over will loose control of their own bodies but Cleo because Cleo is our main character.

And why the hell does this world even have prophecies if they are nothing but jokes; Timotheus you're a disappointment go be a bad fortune teller instead.

Okay so I knew Jonas and Lucia were gonna get together I did not like this fact but I had accepted it. But the only time I was even partially liking her was when she was evil and so I wanted Kyan to be right about and her to go to the dark side. And have you seen X men The Last Stand? That moment when Wolverine kills Jean Grey; that was a fucking iconic moment and that is what I wanted for them. Instead I got a missing baby as an excuse for them to get together.

description

King Gauis dies and this time it's for real.. COOL COOL COOL

Everything else also goes pretty smoothly. Amara has her redemption and she's happy with Nerissa. Nic and Ashur are happy and together. They defeat the kindred and hurrah!

I'm not sadistic but that's just too much happy for my characters.

So I think I don't like the last 2 books much.. found the ending underwhelming. Full RTC (i know I'll be late but it will come)

*EDITED AFTER READING*

OMG OMG OMG

MAGNEO COVER!!! I REPEAT, MAGNEO COVER!

BRACE YOURSELVES!!!

BUT WHY MORE LOVE TESTS MORGAN??? THEY HAD ENOUGH!!! >>> But they can overcome all of them s2

WE JUST NEED CLEO TO FIND MAGNUS, JUMP ON HIM, THEY SHARE LOVE WORDS, SHE APOLOGIZES, HE APOLOGIZES AND THEY MAKE CRAZY SEX LIKE RABBITS CAUSE THE LAST BOOK WAS TORTUROUS!!! >>>
SpoilerHELL YEAH!!! IT WAS AMAZING!!! I just wanted more details in the cave beach scene... Maybe Morgan can gift us an extra... Magneo is THE SUPREME OTP

And here we go, Jonas trying to change everything... He always makes such a mess lol >>>
SpoilerThis time he was FINALLY succesfull... But, with help... Okay, it's better than make a mess again

And Lucia... >>>
SpoilerLucia was SO much better in this final book. Yeah, she is still a bitch and so annoying sometimes... I just wished she wasn't such a big part of the happy ending... Like the key to it all... She doesn't deserve the glory after all... And she and Jonas was a cliché... I was hoping to not happen, but I was glad it happened in a soft and indirect way...

SO COME ON DECEMBER!!! I NEED YOU! >>> Okay, we had to wait until February, but I'm so happy with all that happened! Morgan is a goddess! The end couldn't be more perfect. I'm really happy with this series. An awesome and estable evolution through all the books.

Not gonna lie this was not the most overwhelming finale. The book just didn't seem as thrilling as the previous installments which over all left me kinda disappointed.

So I felt like the plot in this book was kinda all over the place. There wasn't enough tension to really keep me intrigued and I felt like there were just a lot of components added in last minute, mainly Valia, to try and have things make sense. In my opinion nothing really eventful happened for the first half of the book. Except for maybe Magnus digging out of his grave but after Crystal Storms big cliff hanger I was hoping it would be harder for him to escape. He got out far too quickly and it was amazingly convenient that Kurtis buried him so close to the compound and then if that wasn't easy enough he happened to stumble past Ashur. At no point did anything really go wrong for the characters, everything was too easy, there was no struggle. An example being that Cleo and Magnus were reunited far too early in my opinion, I wanted more tension to build of them being apart but Magnus managed to get to Auranos so quickly. A bit disappointing if you ask me.

And whyyyyy did Jonas and Lucia have to be a thing! I really didn't like them together, there was no reason at all for them to be in a relationship. Lucia has fucked Jonas over far too many times to count. She stole his magic, nearly killing him and then choosing to side with Kyan! There was no proof, literally none that Kyan had Lysaa but Lucia just had to be a dumb bitch and betray everyone like she always does! She hasn't changed at all! I was starting to warm up to her a little in Crystal Storm but then I ended up hating her again in this book. Like I got literally five pages into this book and i hated her. The way she treated Jonas at that tavern when he was just trying to help her was disgusting. Honestly I wish she had died in this novel, at least SOMEONE should've died but alas everyone got their happily ever afters. Even Amara.

Also can I just say how stupid Magnus was to follow Kurtis. What did he really think would happen? I knew he was leading Magnus into an ambush and he just took the bait so easily.
Another thing I picked up on was Amara's wine being poisoned. Amara literally was just saying how manipulative and cunning and evil her grandmother is but then she decides "oh it's fine I'm just going to drink some random wine that my deceptive grandmother left me, I'll be great." No. Amara just stop and think for two seconds would you? Speaking of Amara I kinda wanted her and Nerissa to be a thing in this book but I guess there wasn't enough time to develop a relationship.

I was also just very underwhelmed with the final battle scene. I thought there might be some kick ass hand on hand combat but it kinda just fell flat. Kyan turned out to be kinda a weak villain and I wasn't really feeling anything. I realized I didn't really care for any of the characters and the stakes weren't that high. Everything worked a little too well for them. I mean literally nobody died and the magic and how the orbs worked was a bit confusing, I wasn't really following along. I did enjoy it when Kyan took over Magnus's body but in the end I knew what the final outcome would be.

Over all there weren't really any clear goals and the characters were kinda just running around mindlessly trying to piece things together with minimal information. It's kinda disappointing because the epicness and entertainment was really not there with this one. I still believe that the first three novels were strong and absolutely love them as a whole. The last three...not so much... I would say this was an average conclusion to this series.

P.S. Gaius definitely should've died in Frozen Tides, he was such a waste o time in this book.

It’s seems wrong to give this magnificent conclusion anything less than five stars. The expansive magic system, world building, and character depth throughout all six Falling Kingdoms novels are the reasons it is one of my favorite fantasy series. Thank you, Morgan Rhodes, for keeping my babies safe and giving them the happy ending they deserved. 😭😍

Considering I’ve been waiting for this book for ages (since that cliffhanger at the end of Crystal Storms), this was a satisfying conclusion to the series. I’m just glad that Magnus and Cleiona made it to the end.

I feel like 2 stars is being generous here. So often I was tempted to just DNF, but I made it through five books so I might as well finish. When I wasn't reading POVs of Cleo or Magnus, I was basically just skimming. The other characters drove me crazy, and even Cleo and Magnus at times.

Last bit a little too syrupy and neat.
