Very meh. There are some important questions raised, but almost none of them are discussed much and some very not okay things are not challenged enough. I think this one could've been stronger than it is.

I love her family. Every time I read Satrapi, I remember that all of my preconceptions about Iranian women are wrong.

this is so great, a really entertaining look into the lives of Iranian women. I love the style of the book and the illustrations really bring the humour to life

Сплетни с чужой кухни. Как и все сплетни — не очень приятные и интересные

This was hilarious. I wish it was longer. It really provided some insight to limits of sexual freedom experienced by Iranian women. I think living in and growing up in a culture where virginity isn't a necessity to get married makes it reality difficult to understand why it is such a meaningful aspect in other cultures. This short graphic novel really provided some insight to what it's like to grow up in a culture where a women are fearful of what will happen if their virginity is taken prior to marriage or if they get divorced. I think living in a society where the sexual freedom or even marital freedom is granted to woman blinds and shield us from understanding other cultures. This was a great read and I'm glad I read it for my Around the World Reading Challenge. Full review to come soon!
