Some good recipes, yet too many expensive ingredients, such as saffron and pancetta and cheeses etc.

Her flavor profiles are great. But...

Too much meat. My god in heaven too much meat. I'm not a vegetarian, but Sweet Baby Jesus, so much meat.

30 minute meals? Really?? Sure, if you have a prep cook, then it would only take you 30 minutes to mix it all up after your prep cook did everything else and pre-measured all the different components if you happen to be a pro chef yourself with the reflexes and speed of a kitchen Jedi. Yes, if that is your personal situation, 30 minutes easy. However, if you are a perfectly normal mortal human trying to make a tasty meal, most of these recipes are going to be closer to an hour. Some even more.

Exactly how much food does she think goes into one serving? An 11 X 9 casserole dish filled to overflowing with Shepard's pie is not four servings. If it is four servings in your house, you eat too much.

Ultimately the recipes are overly complex and rely too much on starches and meats.

It's a cute book with a new recipe everyday as well as ways to mix up a "master recipe" with different ingredients. However, some of the foods are really weird or require a lot of ingredients, so they are not always convenient.

In an act completely unlike him, my Dad bought this for me for Christmas at the local Sam's Club. We both really like Rachael Ray: she's cute, spunky, smart and makes some wicked good dishes.

I must say, however, that I've only tried one recipe from her book, and it was rather ho-hum. Something I did wrong? Plus, don't look to this book if you're lookin' to slim down. But hey, it's Rachael, when have you EVER expected significantly healthy as a criteria?

I like the format of this book, master recipes that have variations that follow. Unfortunately, as a vegetarian, there is little here once you eliminate the pork chops, skirt steaks and chickens. Even with the rise of fake meats many of these cannot be "converted". My hope is that Rachel applies her obvious knowledge and skills to the veggie side of the world.

I was impressed with the incredible number of recipes in this collection. There is literally something for everyone. I have tried several of the meals and they were easy and accessible to make.
