Ashly Poston spins the most magical tales. Her use of magical realism in her stories is poetry to my mind. I have been a fan since reading The Dead Romantics and each year since I look forward to her next release. Sounds Like Love is no exception. I’m the kind of person that gets chills listening to an amazing song and this book at the end was giving me chills just reading about the song. That’s how amazing Ashly Poston spins this lyrical tale.

This book was soooo good. I absolutely loved the magical realism love story through song. An absolutely magical story as always by Ashley Poston. I think her use of magic through her stories so just delightful. And wow what a little treat to see Lemon and Iwan.

The themes of life well spent and with who and how you spend it was so prevalent and beautifully handled. Fair warning: there’s a lot of this story dealing with dementia
and the reality of losing a family member to that disease
- so this could be triggering for some folks. But truly a beautiful incisive look at what makes a life “well spent.”

Finally, Sebastian and Joni. I’m obsessed with them.
Their magic connection (very Xaden/Violet coded) and the way they connected through their mothers, their music, and their friends made them feel fated (complimentary).
I loved it from the first page.

I'm being generous because it is Ashley Poston. Though, I'm starting to second guess my self-imposed hype around her. Was the amazingness that is Seven Year Slip just a fluke? The other books of hers have been pretty middle of the road. But also, magical realism isn't always my favorite. This one was fun, don't get me wrong, but there was no wow factor for me. Possibly trying to do too much - characters were navigating parental loss, failing careers, an alcohol problem, dementia... and I never picked up on the chemistry of the two MC's. But I'm sure music lovers in particular would enjoy this!

I love Ashley Poston and her magical realism romances!!! They never ever disappoint.
A bit more predictable than her last books but I still loved every second of reading it. And a little cameo from another of her couples, love!

Another absolute banger by Ashley Poston. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to hug my mom after I finished. She just captures such raw emotions in such a heartfelt and romantic way.
