I'm not sure how to rate this book. It was just way intellectually above me.

I'm not in the head space for this book right now. The characters are unlikable, the plot is very slow and I'm starting to find the constant name-dropping of USA-centric artists and their works irritating. My mind is wandering while I read it.

Nearly 100 pages in and I'm reading an account of the world's most boring road trip with miserable people. Don't want to persevere. DNF.

I had to read this book for class. If I could have stopped reading, I would have. The only thing that redeemed this book for me was the ending that tied it all together. The boy does not write how a 10-year-old would write, and the mom is boring and rude to her husband.
