Interesting post-COVID novel that uses history well to explore the experience of pandemics and art. However the magical realism of the time flow feels forced and doesn't fit well with the story, quite jarring especially in the second half of the book.

The glassmaking and family were relatively fine. The time traveling was ridiculous and felt absurd.

Truly one of the best modern novels to come out in a post Covid world—Tracy Chevalier returns to some of the magical realism she tried out in Virgin Blue, but this time with heart wrenching, beautiful effect.

It was very interesting learning random bits about glass making amidst the story with great character development! The time travel was not very well explained, not explained at all so idk about that
