What a trek for such a weak ending. It was a perfectly good book, the ending was just so disappointing. I wish I hadn't bothered to read this book because now I'm annoyed. It was so deeply unsatisfying.
Spoiler for the ending:Why wouldn't she go to America? Her job can *specifically, as spelt out by her boss,* be done from anywhere. She can still go back to visit her family, she hasn't lived in Nottingham for years. Her excuse is so weak - she's finally found someone who treats her well and she loves and is just like 'yeah ... nah'. She's not being strong or true to herself, she's self-sabotaging and cowardly.
Spoiler for the ending:
Graphic: Suicide
Moderate: Abandonment

This was a really enjoyable read for me - I loved Edie and watching her grow and learn to be herself over the course of the book. I found the first 25% a bit slow going, but once the plot picked and and the romance was introduced it picked up and i read the remaining 75% in one sitting.
Moderate: Suicide

My favourite of Mhairi McFarlane's so far, I might've given it five stars if it wasn't for the ending. What an anticlimax - definitely requires a sequel!
Minor: Grief and Suicide
