i love medical history and this book is very informative and interesting. i just dont think this is the vibe i like for non-fiction and that is okay, i'd probably still recommend it to people who like WW or medical history

Fascinating look at how the lives of facially disfigured WWI veterans were changed by the advanced in plastic surgery that were emerging at the time. The book mostly focuses on Dr. Harold Gillies, his team, and the miracles they were able to perform as they were figuring out how to best go about facial reconstruction.

I think this is the most readable history book I've ever read. Fitzharris blends the narrative of WWI, Gillies's operations and individual stories so well.

This is an amazing book that covers Harold Gillies and the inspiring influences to his work without deviating into irrelevant. I would highly recommend. It address the deeply emotion aspect of Gillies and his patients in sensitive and thoughtful manner than conveyed this sensitive topic

Very informative and made me think about different aspects of war that I hadn't previously. However, because it was so information heavy this book was challenging to get through.
