This is a fun science fiction detective story with a twist on how Green Lantern powers work.
Moderate: Addiction, Body horror, Chronic illness, Colonisation, Cultural appropriation, Domestic abuse, Drug abuse, Emotional abuse, Gaslighting, Grief, Gun violence, Injury/Injury detail, Mental illness, Misogyny, Police brutality, Racism, Sexism, Sexual content, Slavery, Toxic relationship, War, Violence, and Xenophobia
The protagonist is bisexual for anyone looking for that representation. N.K. Jemisin’s writing is quite inventive but wow, Jamal Campbell’s Art & Colors are the star of this book. My rating for this book is at 4 simply because DC’s current practice of using lower quality paper in their trade paperbacks just doesn’t do Jamal Campbell’s art the Justice it deserves. If this book gets a Deluxe Hardcover or an Absolute Edition I will without a doubt upgrade and sell off this basic edition for the pure reason of seeing the art at its best.
