Nina Hill is the only child of a single mother. At age twenty-nine, Nina now lives alone with her cat. To contain her anxiety, she has created a full and predictable life. Until she finds out who her father is. Then, she suddenly has a lot of family. And a cute guy who she may want to invite into her life.
This is a fantastic book. It's heartwarming, laugh-out-loud funny, and compassionately and comfortingly addresses serious issues like anxiety. I read it at just the right time. Nina will stay with me.

Romcom, so no plot summary necessary. Pg-13 for some closed door love scenes and some uncomfortable and completely unnecessary dick pic talk. (barf)
I didn't like it as well as the sequel but maybe that's because I read them in the wrong order. Nina was not who I pictured her to be based on how she was portrayed in the second book. Also, it was really unclear why Tom would like her, so the love story fell flat for me. I loved her family relations though.

Good, bookish fun with a relatable quirky protagonist. My only complaint is that this book could have been great. It had moments of greatness, but it kept dipping back into run-of-the-mill fluff. I really enjoyed it, but wished for more.
Fun quick read. Definitely identified with the main character - books and trivia!
Humorous, with a fairly unique side-story. Main character was pretty dang relatable. But, I think I've decided that I'm just not super into modern realistic fiction as much as I thought. There were more pop-culture references than book references, there was unnecessary cursing, and it just didn't grip me. The author did a good job "world building" and making Los Angeles seem like a part of the story, but I just don't like cities or busy modern lifestyles enough to be enthralled by their depiction in a book. Bring me some 1820s Prairie America, Victorian-Era England, or a Fairy Forest instead, please.
I loved everything about this book. I felt a kindred spirit in Nina with her books and anxiety. I loved her family. I loved her love story. I loved it all.

This was a cute book. I relate to the main character & I laughed a lot. It’s quirky, it’s funny, & while there wasn’t anything that really kept me “hooked” on the book, I still enjoyed it.
