Quick, light read. Did I like it? Somewhat. Did I love it? No. Would I recommend this? Eh. It was just so-so.

I really really enjoyed reading this book. It was fun. And it was full of references to books and movies.

Nina is smart, she loves books, she has a cat, she works in a bookstore, and she falls in love with an interesting/smart/nice guy. So there was nothing for me not to like.
Nina is also socially kinda awkward, and she has anxiety. When I read the part about anxiety being her anti-superpower I knew she will be one of my favorite fictional book nerds. Then The Hulk was mentioned and the version played by Mark Ruffalo was mentioned and I was 100% sold. I guess those couple of sentences were enough for me to identify with her on a whole new level.

I have to add that for me the cover alone is worth 10 stars. Not sure what that says about me.

How can you not like this book, it's filled with amazingly useless facts, a love interest who smells mysteriously of sawdust, a sordid array of maladjusted newly acquired family members and a main character who just wants to be left alone and read and listen to the voice of her judgmental cat Phil. Well, she doesn't quite want to listen to the cat, but being a cat - and a judgmental one at that- sorta gives Nine no real choice.
I have no real choice but to stan. Adorable cute and witty, love every bit of it.

This might be more like 4.5 stars due to a few predictable moments and awkward sex references. Might be 4 stars compared to true 5 star favorite literature.

Yet, I enjoyed and related to this so thoroughly. I’m giving it 5 stars. If you are also “bookish,” have anxiety, and appreciate an interesting cast of characters, you will love it too!

I absolutely adored this book. It may be my favorite book of 2019! I thought it was beautiful written and I related a lot to the main character and her love of books. Highly recommend!

What a delightful book! I really related to Nina Hill and her love of books and I liked that she was quirky. The family plot was interesting, too, and a good reminder that people change and show different sides of themselves to different people. Overall, a great first read of 2020!

Cute but precious little happens in this book. The characters are pretty flat and Nina is a classic Quirky Girl with no flaws who somehow has plans every single day of the week but likes to be alone? Tom has no personality to speak of and the romance is yawn inducing. The best part were the family dynamics but again, all of those characters had one single trait. I did laugh a few times and I like cozy books but this was a little too blah.
