I really enjoyed this - the characters felt so real, including their flawed logic & questionable decisions! Reading Julia make some decisions was a very, very hard watch.
Only -1 star because for some reason I wasn't hooked? Not inherently a bad thing though!

this book was really hard to get through, but i understand that that was the point. i found myself so frustrated with the main character because of her unwillingness to break up with her extremely abusive girlfriend, but i do know that was the point of the story. i almost felt like the audience is a character in the story. julia says at one point that observers seem to know more about a situation sometimes, and i felt like i, as the audience, was playing the role of an observer like her friends were and it was incredibly frustrating, but you couldn’t help but love the girl because you know that she’s a good person, but she’s just in such a terrible situation. i loved the ending a lot and i don’t know what else i can say about it without crying lol
I think I need to read something more lighthearted. This one starts getting pretty intense midway through.
Thank the heavens it ending like that.

Really good! I liked it a lot. I didn’t like how Julia cheated with Jane, that didn’t seem right to me. I was hoping Julia and Sam could work it out, the beginning of their relationship was so sweet. I thought the book was funny and charming.
I think that Sam dumping Virginie was out of character. I don’t think someone like Sam would do that for Julia. Also the “el jefe” scene was hard to take seriously. How was that supposed to be for Julia’s benefit in any way? And the fixation on kinks and fisting, I’m realizing, was a bit much in retrospect. I agree with someone else’s review that fist should’ve been on the cover instead of an eye. LOL. Overall I enjoyed the book. The end with Carys seemed a bit rushed, but I liked it. I thought it was unnecessary for them to run into Sam.
