I really liked this. I thought it was clever to show the slow, insidious creep of Sam's coercive control. I'm glad Julia escaped. I mean...there were some *spicy* scenes and some that were just plain...wrong, but cleverly done.

I did like this book, and I have one criticism for it:
why was the only main poly character written as abusive, jealous, ‘greedy’ and manipulative? sam obviously abused julia but it’s problematic for the poly rep to be so, as there are limited good representations of poly people. sam didn’t have to be poly in this book, and i question why the author decided the abuser had to be poly. why does this narrative continue in media?

other than that it was a good rep of the lgbt community if a bit basic.

I enjoyed the beginning and the ending, but the bulk of this was such an uncomfortable slog to get through that I probably wouldn't have finished it if I hadn't been trying to get one more book in before the new year.

*3.5 Story of a woman in an abusive relationship. Mostly well done. A lot of graphic sex.
