I really was intrigued by the idea of the character's abilities in this book and how they focus on developing talents in the arts. Another great world-building on Rebecca Ross's part, love love love !

It took me so long to finish this book, and the only reason was that at

the 67% mark, when it is revealed who Cartier is, I just couldn’t bring myself to read it.

Not because it was bad, because I wasn't prepared for that.

Also,

If Sean had died, Rebecca, you would've heard directly from me.

Absolutely deserving 5☆. The political aspects and the visions were chef's kiss.

This was a solid novel with intricate attention to family detail. I really enjoyed the prose. It was a little predictable, if I'm honest--sometimes that's good and sometimes it isn't. There were a few loose ends that I look forward to seeing tied up in other novels.
