Some people have complained that Moomin is too whiny and negative about winter. But I think you can't really understand that feeling if you have never experienced Scandinavian winter. Especially for a little Moomintroll, who only knows summery sun and warmth, it must be hard to wake up in an entirely different world, cold and dark, alone. But eventually he finds many special creatures and people who have been hidden during summer. And he experiences so much that no Moomintroll has ever seen before. It's a really cute and wholesome story with quite a few deep and philosophical ideas about life. I love this and I'm looking forward to readin more Moomin books in the future

Just lovely. The perfect under-a-blanket January read.

Very cute and cosy. Decided to read this after the first snow of the year had fallen, which added to the reading experience (even though I wasn't able to read outside). I mostly read the book at night due to writing papers and deadlines. It felt oddly reassuring to read about Moomontroll's adventure and loneliness at such a time when everyone in my own house was sleeping.

A masterpiece for winter reading.
