It's the first book I read in this series and won't surely be the last as I loved this entertaining and engrossing story.
The historical background is well researched, the cast of characters is fleshed out and the mystery is solid.
The book kept hooked and the mystery kept me guessing.
An excellent read, highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

A sincere 10/10 for me!

This has been my favorite Rosalind Thorne mystery! Each story has me completely engaged and wondering what I e missed to solve the mystery. Rosalind is such a strong and clever character. She is so determined and yet she struggles with her flaws as well. I can’t wait for the next installment!

This was okay. I enjoyed it, and found it entertaining, but I didn't love it the way I did the first book in this series.

The overall feeling of the plot in this book, and therefore the feeling of the whole book, was over-wrought. Everything felt hyper-dramatic and excessively emotional. I imagine that was the author's intent, given the subject matter of the story, but it was a bit much for me. There was a great deal of eye-rolling.

I loved the character of Rosalind specifically BECAUSE she was the calm in the storms of the society she lives in. She was sensible and rational and confident, in spite of the fact that she is a lady trying to make her way without a family or fortune. This book had everyone, including Rosalind, running around hysterical about what was happening.

I still love the world, and Rosalind, so I will read the next book in hopes that everyone settles the hell back down.

Rosalind Thorne is back in her third regency mystery. This time she is helping Adam Harkness to discover the identity of a dead woman. Rosalind goes undercover in the house where the dead woman was found, posing as the confidential assistant to Lady Melbourne, who actually needs help finding some missing letters and hires Rosalind to do so.
I enjoyed this book. The mystery was solid and the clues were fairly laid out. The characters are fun but not silly. Rosalind's slow-burn romances continue to burn slowly, indeed, which is good as far as I am concerned.
My one quibble with the book is that Rosalind assures Lady Melbourne that she will not share certain private information with others then proceeds, apparently without qualms, to tell several other people over the course of the book. Since, as Rosalind herself pointed out, her livelihood depends on her reputation, this seemed extremely foolhardy and unlikely.

I am not much of a mystery person, but these books keep me engaged throughout. Darci Wilde is great at laying in the clues for you, but doing it in such a way that the character is a bit ahead of you in figuring out who committed the crime. She also gives a unique and interesting perspective on London during the regency era. I'll be reading more!

While I enjoyed this book and will look forward to more, I found it sadly lacking compared to the first two books. Perhaps that's because I thought it was only going to be a trilogy and we'd get a definitive answer to Rosalind's love life. Still, I didn't find the mystery as intriguing, and it seemed less comprehensive than the earlier ones.
